I am filled with love, gratitude, and pride as I look back on 2024. Ujamaa LLC has offered sound healing services to over 100 underserved individuals through partnerships and sponsorship through local community organizations.
These partnerships have allowed all of our programming to be free to the community and eliminating economic barriers. Over the last two years Ujamaa LLC has:
Facilitated (3) 6 week workshop series at the Booker T Washington Community Service center serving 20 individuals 55+ predominantly Black women also including Asian and Latino community members.
Facilitated 15 weeks of the SoundWellness multi-generational workshop series in partnership with the Bayview YMCA, serving over 20 individuals with the youngest being 7 years old and the eldest 78.
Facilitated 6 workshops at Rafiki Coalition for Wellness Serving over 20 individuals.
Distributed over 100 SoundWellness kits to our program participants including silicon cupping tools, massage oil, magnesium oil, African herbs, tuning forks, & crystal singing bowls.
Produced 2 Afrolistic Community Events serving more that 30 community members with the support of Zaccho Dance Theater, Dreamkeeper Initiative, & SFAC
Produced an award winning documentary, Afrolistic: Black Healing from Zimbabwe to the Bay with the support of AAACC, Dreamkeeper Initiative, & SFAC
Developed a workbook to accompany a cooperative education curriculum currently being taught in San Quentin in support of Repaired Nations.
We have hired more than 15 Black artists in the curation of the Afrolistic community events prioritizing those who are 55+, disabled, formerly incarcerated, and/or members of the LGBTQAI+ communities.
Many of these projects started out as problems that I kept noticing in my community. Problems like:
disconnection from our ancestral culture.
lack of access to culturally appropriate holistic health and wellness.
the economic genocide that is on the horizon for Black Americans.
These problems evolved into dreams. I wrote out these dreams, listed out what I needed to accomplish them, and seized opportunities to share my dreams with others. Now these dreams are reality. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey.
It is time to expand and bring on support and we need your help.
